The saa class of 2012 hosted their graduate Portfolio Show at saa on Friday, May 25. Attending the noon luncheon event and the evening cocktail hour were 219 industry professionals as well as members of the press.
Guests included Art Directors and Creative Directors from Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus; representatives of staffing agencies; local business owners scouting new talent; design departments from companies such as Reynolds & Reynolds, Mead, and Evenflo; creative services teams from agencies like Hafenbrack, Atomic Interactive, Clutch Interactive, U! Creative, Real Art; and many more.
Family and friends visited mid-afternoon to exclaim over the artwork and the students’ accomplishments, and alumni were greeted at the after-hours Alumni Party.
Diplomas and degrees were awarded on Saturday, May 26, at the Dayton Art Institute. A packed auditorium of faculty, parents, grandparents, family, and friends saw a reel of graduate artwork and heard from saa President Jessica Barry, 2012 Valedictorians Beth Chasse and Ethan Muller, and Commencement speaker Michael Taylor of BIA/Kelsey.
The Memorial Day weekend sunshine and the beautiful DAI Renaissance Auditorium provided the perfect backdrop to launch these young artists and designers into their new careers.
