Over $200,000 in tuition reduction and tuition awards are available for incoming first-year students. All SAA tuition awards are credited toward SAA tuition and expenses.

Art and Academic Achievement Awards

eligibility: First-year students accepted to start classes in August 2015. award amount: Up to four students who reflect excellence in both design and general academic courses will each be offered a $10,000 award [$5,000 per year]. requirements: A portfolio of 10 pieces of artwork (on flash drive, CD, or DVD) and the competition checklist. deadline: March 6, 2015

Daniel E. Johnson Memorial Award

eligibility: First-year students accepted to start classes in August 2015. award amount: One student who reflects excellence in both design and general academics will be offered a $10,000 award [$5,000 per year]. Essay required. Submit an essay describing how an education from the School of Advertising Art will affect your future. The essay should be double-spaced with 1-inch margins and be no more than 500 words. requirements: A portfolio of 10 pieces of artwork (on flash drive, CD, or DVD), the competition checklist, and an essay. deadline: March 6, 2015

Portfolio Competition Awards for Enrolled Students

eligibility: First-year students accepted and enrolled to start classes in August 2015. If not already enrolled, complete the enrollment agreement packet and submit your $100 enrollment fee. This must be complete by March 7, 2014 to qualify. To receive an enrollment agreement call SAA at 877 300 9866. This packet is not downloadable from the SAA website. award amount: Up to four students will each be offered a $5,000 award [$2,500 per year] based on past academic success and the level of skill and creativity shown in their portfolio. requirements: A portfolio of 10 pieces of artwork (on flash drive, CD, or DVD) and the competition checklist. deadline: March 6, 2015

Multicultural Awards

eligibility: First-year students accepted to start classes in August 2015. Applicants must be identified as African American, Latina/Latino, Native American, Asian American, Pacific Islander, or other ethnic minority. Essay required. Submit an essay describing how your cultural heritage inspires you as an artist. The essay should be double-spaced with 1-inch margins and be no more than 500 words. award amount: Up to four students who exhibit great artistic skill and past academic success will each be offered a $5,000 award [$2,500 per year]. requirements: A portfolio of 10 pieces of artwork (on flash drive, CD, or DVD), the competition checklist, and an essay. deadline: March 6, 2015

1. Can I enter each award competition if I have been accepted at SAA? Yes, with one exception: you must be accepted AND enrolled to enter the Portfolio Competition Awards for Enrolled Students. 2. Do I need to send more than one copy of my portfolio if I am entering multiple competitions? No. You only need to submit one copy of your portfolio. 3. Do I need to submit more than one Award Competition Checklist? No. You only need to submit one Award Competition Checklist. 4. I have questions about how to submit my artwork. Who can I call? Business Professionals of America Awards

eligibility: First-year students accepted to start classes in August 2015 who are awarded first place at the Ohio or Indiana Business Professionals of America (BPA) Website Design, Advertising Promotion, Photography, or Video competitions at the state level. award amount: The School of Advertising Art offers up to ten students a $2,500 award [$1,250 per year] deadline: March 6, 2015

Governor’s Show Awards

The Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition is an annual competition for Ohio high school students. Artwork is first entered on a regional level with selected work chosen to compete on the state level. Visit govart.org for more information. eligibility: Any student who attends a public or private high school chartered by the State of Ohio Department of Education may enter the competition. award amount: The School of Advertising Art provides a $10,000 award to high school students who place in the Top 300 on the state level and who are accepted to the School of Advertising Art.

SkillsUSA Awards

eligibility: Students awarded first place at the Ohio Southwest Regional Advertising Design Contests, and the Ohio or Indiana State SkillsUSA Advertising Design, Web Design, Photography, or Video contests. For contest information visit skillsusa.org. award amount: The School of Advertising Art offers up to seven students a $2,500 award [$1,250 per year]. how to enter: Select technical schools are affiliated with the SkillsUSA organization. Career Center Graduate Tuition Award

Students accepted to start Year One classes in August 2015, have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and will graduate from a Career Center high school are eligible for this $5,000 award.

Congressional Art Award

eligibility: Students who win first place in their home district’s Congressional Art Competition. Click here for information about this visual arts competition that recognizes and encourages artistic talent. The website will lead you to your Congressional District Representative to determine whether your district participates.
award amount: Students will be offered a $2,500 award [$1,250 per year].

Out-of-State Tuition Reduction

Students accepted to start Year One classes in August 2015, have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and live outside the state of Ohio are eligible for this $5,000 award.
