Where did you attend before saa?

Findlay High School and Millstream Career Technology Center.

What is one of your favorite things about saa?

The combination of student and instructor critique. I feel like the process really allows you to gather a variety of different perspectives on your work, and opens up a multitude of ways for you to expand your own personal style.

What was one of your favorite class projects at saa?

It would have to be the magazine ad. The project allowed me to take my concept from the beginning to the end while incorporating a range of the skills I've learned (photography, photo-manipulation, layout skills), and eventually expanding it into an ad series just for fun.

What is one of the most important things you’ve learned at saa?

The ability to create and execute effective concepts. The curriculum allows you to do more than make attractive work. You learn what makes it good, and how to communicate an idea.

Any advice for incoming students thinking of attending saa?

Manage your time. It's important to take that extra bit of effort to do well. Your work can very clearly reflect the amount of time you put into it. The sooner you start, the more time you have to improve if you finish ahead of schedule.
