1. What is a portfolio? A portfolio is a collection of the best samples of your artwork.

2. What type of artwork should I include? Include any combination of drawings, paintings, computer art, sketchbooks, photography, etc. You want to show that you can work with different mediums and subjects.

3. How many pieces of artwork should I include? Most students bring 8–10 pieces, but feel free to bring fewer or more.

4. What if I only have 3–4 pieces of artwork? Just bring those 3–4 pieces of artwork to your interview.

5. Can I bring my sketchbook? You can bring your sketchbook. We enjoy seeing your sketches and ideas.

6. What if I can’t decide which pieces to include? If you are having trouble deciding which pieces to include, ask your art teacher for suggestions, or bring all of your artwork to your interview.

7. Can I include anime drawings in my portfolio? You can include anime drawings if they are well-drawn characters that you have created yourself. Don’t include anime characters that are copies of other artists’ work.

8. Should I bring my original work or should I bring my artwork on a flash drive or CD? You can bring either original artwork or your artwork on a flash drive or CD.

9. What if I only work on the computer and do not draw? Just bring your digital artwork on a flash drive or CD. You will learn to draw during introductory drawing courses during your first year.

10. What if I have not created artwork on the computer? Just bring your traditional artwork. You will learn to create artwork on the computer during introductory computer art courses during your first year.

11. Do I need to mat my original artwork? No, just bring your artwork as is.

12. My artwork is framed. Can I bring my artwork in frames? Yes, just bring your artwork in frames.

13. Can I include sculpture in my portfolio? Yes, but also include other forms of art.



14. Do I need to bring my artwork in a portfolio case? Don’t worry about bringing your artwork in a portfolio case if you do not own one. Just make sure your artwork is protected.
