Dear Alumni, Teachers, and Graphic Designers,
We are proud to announce that the school of advertising art successfully added photography courses to the curriculum this year. With the addition of professional photographer John Rossi to the faculty, saa students have learned valuable skills allowing them to shoot professional photos as well as photos showcasing their design work.
At the request of the alumni, we would like to share these skills with you through a summer introduction to photography course taught by John Rossi. The class will consist of six 3-hour classes held on Saturday mornings from 9:00am-Noon. Classes will be held on June 25, July 2, July 9, July 16, August 6, and August 13.
The cost of the course is $299 for alumni and $399 for teachers and professionals. The price includes 6 classes for a total of 18 hours of instruction. We can accommodate 18 students. Enrollment will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Limited enrollment. Register today!
The content of the course will be comprised of the basic fundamentals of photography. Emphasis on using a camera in manual mode will be the starting base of the course. In addition, the following software will be taught and used throughout this course: Adobe Photoshop, Camera RAW, and Adobe Bridge. Basic studio practices will also be covered, which include studio lighting (strobes) and lighting products for commercial use.
Classes will be comprised of lab periods that coincide with lectures each week. Out-of-class assignments will be required in addition to the class labs. Each assignment will be due the following class and will be presented for a class critique.
No prior photo classes are required to take this course. Students are required to bring a camera, flash drive, and laptop with Adobe Photoshop CS4 or CS5 installed to each class. Although it is beneficial to have a camera that shoots in RAW format, it is not required.
For Teachers: this course is 18 clock hours in length and LPDC verification contract forms are available upon request.
Summer course instructor John Rossi has more than ten years of experience in the field of commercial photography, including over five years at AGI Studios in Dayton.
