The American Advertising Federation (AAF) annually hosts advertising’s largest and most holistic competition, the ADDYs. This competition aims to recognize excellence across the advertising, marketing, and graphic design fields.
The AAF National ADDY Award Ceremony was held in New Orleans on June 10, 2017. SAA 2016 graduate Lauren Landes won a national AAF Student Silver ADDY for her Lillette branding.
Lauren is employed as a designer at The Scenery, a product agency in Dayton.
Reka Juhasz, a 2009 SAA graduate and designer at Real Art in Dayton, was awarded a national AAF Silver ADDY for the 2017 12 Musketeers Letterpress Calendar. Reka leads a team of SAA alumni each year to design the calendar. The 2017 designers include:
Candy Neimeyer – Real Art
Cody Achter – Team will.i.am.
Ana Surface – HYVE
Brad Dunham – LMG
Trace Palmatier – Magnetic Mobile
Brent Presley – School of Advertising Art
Jon Brooks – Upward Brand Interactions
Linsey Free – Real Art
Helen Owens – Upward Brand Interactions
Anthony Wartinger – School of Advertising Art
Blake Harmer – M.E.S.A.
“I am so very proud of our team for getting a SILVER NATIONAL ADDY! It’s been a wild ride, and it’s crazy to think that we are getting ready to start brainstorming for next year’s calendar,” stated Reka. “Congrats to all the designers; I could have not done it without you all!”
The American Advertising Federation hosted the ADDY awards at ADMERICA! 2017, AAF’s national conference. This competition is unique in its use of three levels of rigorous judging. AAF member clubs host local competitions. Entries that gain recognition at the local level are advanced to one of 15 district competitions. District winners then go on to the national finals. Entries are judged based on all creative dimensions.
