SAA is proud to announce that our student marketing team took first place in the National Student Advertising Competition District 5 event held April 8 at The Campbell House in Lexington, Kentucky. The team of 20 second-year students also were awarded the “Best Creative” distinction.
The National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC), sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, is the premier college advertising competition in the nation, providing more than 2,000 students the experience of creating a strategic advertising/marketing/media campaign for a corporate client. Students develop a marketing plan and then pitch their work to advertising professionals at the district, semi-final, and national levels. This year’s corporate sponsor is Tai Pei, which produces Asian-style frozen food. This is the third year SAA has sent a team to the competition.
Other colleges represented in District 5 include the University of Kentucky, Youngstown State University, Marshall University, and John Carroll University. As district winners, the SAA NSAC team will proceed to the semi-finals to compete in early May for one of eight national finalist spots.
SAA’s NSAC team members include Brook Albers, Anna Beneke, Cheyenne Broaddrick (presenter), Caitlin Burton, Jessie Cox, Cherrelle Currie, Cesar Escobar, Schyler Fehr, Michelle Hoppe, Emily Imke, Aryn Landes, Jai-Lynn McBride (presenter), Alexa McVety, Megan Miller (presenter), Jenny Osterholt, Jake Rhinehart, Caleb Ritter, Shane Roberts, Sydney Rose, and Hunter Rupp (presenter). The team is advised by instructor Kelly Mercer.
